Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a FDA approved, medication free treatment for patients who have depression not responding or intolerant to medications. Most patients find meaningful improvement with this treatment. The effects can be long lasting. It does not involve electrical stimulation, hospitalization, or anesthesia.  It does not cause memory loss or confusion. It is an office treatment prescribed by a trained psychiatrist. This is a cutting edge treatment that can offer you relief from your suffering even if medications have not worked.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) use magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the areas of your brain affected by your mental health condition. The strength of the magnetic field is similar to that produced by a MRI machine. Commonly reported side effects include treatment site sensitivity and headache. Unlike medications, TMS does not cause weight gain, sexual dysfunction, dry mouth, insomnia, or nausea.

We are an in-network provider for most major insurance panels. What this means is that your TMS treatment may be fully covered except for your copay, coinsurance, and deductible. This makes TMS a viable, and affordable option for more patients in the Palm Beach County area. We also have a lower cost option for those patients not able to obtain insurance coverage.

Standard treatment involves one 20 minute TMS session per day at our office in West Palm Beach five days per week for six weeks. We offer evening and Saturday hours for your convenience. For patients who are unable to remain in the West Palm Beach area for six weeks, or who wish for a faster treatment course, we offer Accelerated TMS and Accelerated Theta Burst Stimulation.  Accelerated treatment is completed in two weeks.
